Most people with spider veins are good candidates for IPL. If you are prone to raised keloid scars or pigmentation issues, you may not be a good candidate, or if you have diabetes, which affects wound healing.
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated, and the light energy from the device is directed into the spider veins. You will be comfortably resting on a treatment bed or chair and may feel a snapping sensation as the light energy is applied. Your treatment will take only about 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
The recovery time is not painful, but it may require up to six weeks for a visible vein to be fully absorbed and disappear. The treated area may appear red and slightly swollen or bruised. Apply arnica and cold compresses to speed healing. You can wear makeup to hide reddened skin.
No aspirin or supplements that thin blood should be taken one week before your treatment, as these medications can lead to more bruising.
