Radiesse is an anti-aging dermal filler used to fill out fine lines and wrinkles while adding facial volume to create a youthful and attractive contour. At Rousso Adams Facial Plastic Surgery Clinic, we examine your skin type and discuss your aesthetic goals to personalize the Radiesse treatment to provide optimal facial contouring with natural results.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is an injectable dermal filler made of biodegradable materials, used to fill out the fine lines and wrinkles on your face. Radiesse stimulates collagen production under the skin’s surface, which, in turn, restores facial volume. Radiesse is made of non-toxic, biodegradable, and nonallergic components suitable for the body’s tissues, making the procedure completely safe. The Radiesse results usually last up to two years.
How does Radiesse work?
Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) gel, a biocompatible and biodegradable component naturally found in the human body. The CaHA gel immediately adds the necessary volume to your skin’s surface, leading to immediate results. But that’s not all — CaHA gel also facilitates collagen production, a naturally-occurring substance that creates its own volume.
Over time, the CaHA gel gets absorbed into the body, and the collagen continues adding facial volume. As such, Radiesse provides a volumizing treatment for the short-term and long-term, making the results last for up to two years.
What does Radiesse treat?
Radiesse injections are generally administered in facial regions, especially around the nose and mouth. It can be used to add volume to your cheeks while filling out fine lines, creases, and wrinkles, such as the lines around the mouth, nasolabial folds, and laugh lines. In some cases, Radiesse can also fill up deep scars or restore lost volume on the hands' backs.
What happens during the Radiesse procedure?
During your initial consultation, we will discuss your aesthetic goals and examine your facial skin to curate the Radiesse treatment plan, which generally includes marking out the injection spots with a pen. After creating a treatment map on your face, we will apply local anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel any pain. Finally, they’ll administer Radiesse injections in the strategically-targeted locations. The entire procedure should conclude within 15 minutes, depending on the number of injections necessary.
What is recovery from Radiesse like?
After the Radiesse procedure, you may experience mild discomfort, swelling, itching, bruising, and redness. These symptoms are natural, manageable with over-the-counter medications, and they gradually dissipate within a few days. You’ll notice significant improvements immediately, but you’ll notice the full results of the treatment after a week. The results of Radiesse injections last up to 2 years, but the exact duration varies for each individual.
Hyper-diluted Radiesse for the neck and hands
For the neck and hands, Radiesse can be used in a unique way to address fine wrinkles, saggy or crepey skin. At Rousso Adams Facial Plastic Surgery, we provide a cutting-edge, advanced treatment with hyper-diluted Radiesse. Hyper-diluted Radiesse acts like a gel mesh under the skin to hold the area more taut. Over time, it continually stimulates collagen growth to improve the tone and texture of the skin. We inject hyper-diluted Radiesse into the neck or hands to tighten and firm the skin area and give them a long-lasting, rejuvenated appearance.
Am I a suitable candidate for Radiesse?
You’re a suitable candidate for the treatment if you have sunken cheeks or fine lines and wrinkles. You may not be suitable for Radiesse injections if you:
- Are allergic to the Radiesse components
- Have a history of severe allergies
- Are allergic to lidocaine or similar anesthetics
- Have a bleeding disorder
- Are pregnant or nursing
